Counselling, Trauma Therapy & Supervision

Regular and on-going clinical supervision is a very important factor of being a good ethical counsellor. I believe it is important that you feel comfortable with your supervisor to share both your successes, as well as your struggles. This applies whether you are studying to be a counsellors, as well as whether you might be very experienced.

The Beech Practice provides supervision for student counsellors, as well as for qualified counsellors. I carry a certificate in Counselling Supervision, completed at Victoria Counselling & Training Centre in Southend-on-Sea. I work with Hawkins and Shohet's model, which works with seven different 'modes', which allows us to explore the material you bring from different angles. Counselling Supervision usually entails 1.5 hours a month of supervision for qualified counsellors. If you are still studying, this usually means 1 hour for every eight clients you see on a fortnightly basis.

If you are a student looking for a supervisor, it might be helpful to know that I have also taught various Levels and Diplomas in Counselling at a College in Southend in the past. I therefore understand the curriculum that you are working to complete, as well as the demands that a placement might put on you. If you would like an introductory session to see if we could work well together, please don't hesitate to contact me.
